Any UofM students from back in the late 80’s/early 90’s might remember Todd from his “residency” in the city & his weekly appearances at the Daily Planet… hard to believe the “Alright Guy” is gone.
Saw him play a couple of times. Once was at Poplar Lounge (I think) and once I believe at Newbys. “Songs for the Dailey Planet” was a great CD.
RIP
Speaking of Newbys, they are closing at the end of November. Havent been there in probably 15-20 years but sad to see and old hangout shut down. Might have to stop in for 1 or 2 final beers there

Salt Lake City has changed, very much for the worse.
that vid was disturbing ... tbh, he sounded like he was shitehammered ... this is coming from someone who knows that side of the equation AND crawled into the ER with pneumonia ~15 yrs. ago (b/c I'm that stubborn) ... they stabbed me the first time in less than an hr. just to relieve the pressure...
3 days later, they did it again and inserted a tube to let the goop drain out b/c the antibiotics weren't having much effect ... they wouldn't let me take the plastic, filled 3 column container home ... it looked like a green/orange/yellow lava lamp in stasis ... nuts wanted to electrify, encase in a frame, and hang it on the wall of survival ...

To be fair he never had a great voice to begin with. I still like his music, though. His voice was a good fit for his style.

that's why I posted the vid of muh bud w/o the politics ... their style mimic each other ... it wasn't hard to see why Prine signed TS
again, it was tough watching that vid ... there's more to that story that isn't being told ... it's a shame to watch someone go down that way coupled with how the hospital/police 'treated'...
when it comes to EADGBE, he was a feller that was at least able to live a dream .... how can one not love that ... many a poet has passed in despair ... RIP, Snider!!!

and Ja!, I ain' right (in the head at times) ...
The other half of that is "...but you aint wrong either."
And I didn't know that Prine signed Todd. It makes sense, though, since they were both balladeers basically. JP should receive some kind of an award as America's Poet Laureate posthumously in perpetuity or something designating him a national treasure.
There's something powerful in the simplicity of a lone performer singing and accompanying himself with a guitar, especially when they're performing their own original work.
John Prine
Neil Young
Jackson Browne
James Taylor
Guy Clark
Townes Van Zant
Steve Earle (at times)
Don McLean
That list could get much bigger, but those are a few that spring to mind. They have all played with backing bands and as band members themselves at various times, but I consider their best work to be when it was done solo.
TB4E, here's another feller you may want to add to the 'library' ... that groove is what I'm trying to find by Feb. next year ... I have the callouses back on the left; just gotta hone that right...
the first set in the following is my fave...
