Actually that's been speculated for a looong time by now. Guess they just got the DNA to fool around with.

Not that we should really care at this point----but its worth noting the Russians cremated most of what was left of Hitlers reamains in the 1970's. My understanding is the Russians have the only existing remains (a portion of the skull and a jaw bone). There supposedly was a paper that claimed the skull fragment belonged to a 40yr old women (a claim the Russians dispute). If we set the skull fragment aside, the jawbone would be the only thing that might be authentic (and probably is since it was supposedly verified via dental records). So my question would be---did they actually do a DNA test using the jawbone sample in Russia---or is the OP just a guess based on a series of assumptions?

That was my first question, too.

According to all the sources that we have, Hitler offed himself with a bullet to the brain while he was sitting on a sofa in his bunker. Blood soaked into the sofa, naturally. A couple of days later US forces are rummaging around the place and — supposedly — an American GI ripped off a patch of fabric from the sofa with the blood on it and kept it as a souvenir. Many, many years later, DNA testing was done on the fabric that — again, supposedly — matched up with the DNA of one of Hitler’s male relatives (not descendants, but still kinfolk) living in the UK (there were several of them. At least one of them fought for the UK in the war).

This story in the OP sounds fishy to me. But honestly — who knows? who cares? The only serious reaction I have is that it would help explain why Hitler never fathered any children (that we know of) and never married (until he was getting ready to commit suicide).

Oh and one other thing — this story is even funnier for those who have read The Boys From Brazil by Ira Levin. Highly recommended! And the movie was decent, too. Gregory Peck hamming it up as Josef Mengele hiding in the jungle, LOL
