Man, she's not good at this. I know it's an overused joke at this point, but she sounds inebriated with her fumbling over words and slow pace of speech halfway through. Whether she actually is or not isn't really the point. The point is that whatever is to blame, her delivery and personal connection to any audience are severely lacking. Even the way she constantly changes her accent and grammar comes across as nakedly inauthentic, which has been her biggest downfall from the beginning. You can convince people to vote for bad ideas, as sad a reality as that is, but it's hard to convince people to vote for someone who is so clearly manufactured.

The mistake for Democrats would be assuming she can finally turn a corner. It's like sticking with a starting quarterback who played an entire season and never won a game. Whatever redeeming qualities you might think exist, you can't keep running it back with someone so flawed. None of this would be a question if Harris didn't check multiple intersectional boxes that provide an immediate boost within the party. Heck, none of us would know her name because she never would have gotten as far as she did. That's the minefield Democrats had to navigate in 2024 in handing her the nomination without a fight, and they'll have to navigate it again in 2028.

As for the idea that she was playing (and allegedly winning) "three-dimensional chess" against Trump, I think the results speak for themselves. Bragging about a strategy that failed miserably speaks to a clinical level of hubris, but again, the point here is to pretend she was facing a no-win situation. In her mind, if she had just been given the entire cycle, her message would have pierced the hearts of voters, and everything would have been different. That was never the case, and if anything, the shortened timeframe following Joe Biden's pull-out ranged from benefiting her (especially early on) to being a wash. Harris is who she is. She's never going to get better at this, and Democrats can fail to learn that lesson at their own peril. Nothing would make Republicans happier, though.
