Compare my gait now with me 20 years ago, and you wouldn't know it was the same person. I used to be a fast walker; everywhere I went, I was moving with determination. These days I don't so much walk as I do amble along, trying my best to not look drunk. I'd never pass a field sobriety test even if I was stone-cold sober.

During my years as a martial artist, I had outstanding balance. It's all I can do to stand on one foot long enough to pull my pants on these days.

Don't get old, bud, and if you do, I hope you haven't been too physical because ALL those old injuries come back with a vengeance.

I suppose most of us have met a retired professional athlete at some point along the way. A lucky few — Tom Glavine, for example — look like they could pitch 9 innings right now. But many others — ex-NFL, especially — are withered and in constant pain.
