how's that, miko?
I'd love to hear that 'theory'...
The international trade system as we know it will devolve into smaller regions as the U.S. gives up the mantle of being the hegemon to guarantee the safe operation of the international world order. Every major country is going into debt. The U.S. debt is bad, but not as bad as China's and Japan's. Europe's debt will accelerate as the U.S. removes the subsidies of the international trade system.
Smaller trading blocks will develop. I envison one with the U.S. will be in charge of that will include: Much of the western hemisphere, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Another block will be lead by France and Germany. I think Turkey will rebuild it's own economic block too. The current ability for countries to hyper-specialize as members of a cohesive international trading network will be gone. More countries will have to dedicate resources to "redundant" capacity simply because it will be cost prohibitive to trade it outside of your own trading block.
All of the major debt of the major powers will be "wiped", and it will be paid for some way, somehow by being in charge of a trade network. A return to mercantilism.

which I fully agree with .. it's why I asked, 'how does that make the world bigger?' ... maybe I'm lost in translation where "bigger" means more for all ... that I'll explain..
I believe it's best method that shrinking distance thru global redundancy will only help economic growth and independence across the globe (equilibrium) ... we have untapped value to both the north and undeveloped south w/o the need for the east or west unless value of goods are on par with such as they continue to develop ... their hemisphere also has the same sans the "undeveloped"...
I also agree that debt will be "wiped" at some point ... it's plausible in any version of the fiat, eh?~!
regardless of the 'how', today's version is macro jockeying for position at that future 'table' ... DJT knows this while engaging from a position of strength ... there's plenty of $$$ for all parties w/o war/conquering as the go-to answer ... it's eradicating those that are reluctant to conform to that mold he's trying to sway...
I could write more, but that's the gist from my two 'sense' ...

Bigger refers simply to greater difficulty to access. Take international travel. With a U.S. passport, we can go to a lot of places internationally simply by hopping a plane. No application for a visa required. In the future, I think as we retreat into our own spheres of influence, more countries will require visas for travel. Also I believe with smaller trade blocks it will be harder to get access to international goods we have easy access to today.
Just theories.

fair enough ... however, if it's in their best interests when the screws are fully tightened, they'll succumb if it helps their back pocket in the long interest of the 'gin'...
if we have to give up a smattering of wtfe, so be it ... I feel confident we'll make it thru that 'adjustment' period...
what we cannot afford is to continue to take a knee to the globohomo elitists ... that has to end!

Perhaps.
Orrrrr, the U.S. demanding they beef up on their own has seen more investment from the 60 yr freeloaders?

I have master card I'm not getting Visa.
I don't think we'll get to the point of needing them. That would really put a wrench into their tourism and many of them rely on American tourists even if they think we're the Ugly Americans. "You're ugly but your money is beautiful" thinking.
Dunk, sometimes I read a post and then see who wrote it and by golly, sometimes I think it was Stink who wrote it but I find it is you, I hope I don't catch Stinky disease too.

The US could dominate the world economy next week if it wasn't for the oil lobby. Soybean farmers could turn millions of acres over to raising corn instead, and car makers make all flex fuel engines going forward. E85 runs cleaner and produces more HP. E85 is selling for $1.89/gal in my hood. Imagine what $1.50/gal fuel would do for our economy.
