Women’s Soccer
The Cougars drew with a very good SIUE squad 2-2 in Chicago States home opener. The SIUE squad got the equalizing goal with 5 minutes to go and got the tie.

SIUE is a strong program and has 3 NCAA tournament appearances since 2020.

In the first game of the season, Chicago State was dominated on the road by DePaul and fell 6-2.

Next up is Purdue Ft Wayne.

New coach Kevin Larry picked up his first win as the Cougars’ head man.

The 2-1 home win came against Purdue Fort Wayne and evens the Cougars up at 1–1-1 on the season.

I was impressed with a win and a tie this early in the season.

Another game, and another NOT a loss. It is troubling to see the lack of shots, though

CSU drew with SIU in Carbondale, 1-1. The Salukis came in 6-1, including 4 shut outs. A draw with them is definitely a sign that the women’s team is a capable squad under this new head coach. I think they are going to do OK in the NEC if games like this are any indication.

RE: Women’s Soccer
I’d normally say a draw to open the conference season is a good result. But LeMoyne is a very bad team, so a draw in that game is bad. I’m afraid most of the NEC will get a win versus LeMoyne, so it’s almost a loss as far as the standings go.

The Cougars are 2-3-4 now, 0-0-1 in the NEC.

RE: Women’s Soccer
The Cougars knocked of last years NEC Champ and NCAA tournament representative Howard and gave them their only league loss to date.

They followed up that up with another win over New Haven, 3-0.

They now have 3 very winnable games to conclude the regular season slate. The squad has a real chance to propel themselves up to around 5th in the league.

Remaining on the Chicago State schdule are-

Mercyhurst is 1-13-3, St Francis is 0-11-4, and Stonehill 4-8-3.:

Cougars got their 3rd straight win. 2 more games remain in the season.

Nice to end on a positive note, with 2nd winnable games left. Unfortunately, with the NEC’s small 4 team conference tournament, the Cougars are already eliminated.

But there is a chance to move up a few spots in the standings.

RE: Women’s Soccer
Cougars women’s soccer have set a program for the most wins in the programs 12 year history. Modest success, but a step in the right direction for a program which has struggled.

There’s a good chance the program will add 2 more wins this season, end on on either a 5 game win streak, or 4 out of 5, and finish in the top half of the league.

A nice accomplishment for a first year coach, and one that will likely be very good for recruiting and retention of current players.
