On a related topic, we have 40M+ people on the SNAP program. That's ridiculous.

I wonder how many are illegal aliens.

I bet it's at least a quarter of that number. And I bet the vast majority get paid under the table so they don't have to report any income, therefore gaming the system two ways.

And leftists think we should tax the hell out of wealthy people. lolno

"My first day in office, I am going to ask Congress to put a bill on my desk getting rid of this disastrous law and replacing it with reforms that expand choice, freedom, affordability. You're going to have such great health care at a tiny fraction of the cost. And it's going to be so easy.

When we win on November 8th and elect a Republican Congress, we will be able to immediately repeal and replace Obamacare -- have to do it. Obamacare has to be replaced and we will do it and we will do it very, very quickly." ~ donald john trump, Oct. 25, 2016

And a few Senate Republicans couldn't get out of their own way to actually repeal it, like Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. You know, RINOs.

But the Fat Commie Dude doesn't care about that. Meanwhile, the Dems have voted no on the clean CR for the thirteenth time. This is THEIR shutdown, not ours.

Yep. The purpose of Russia Gate was to hog tie Trump during the first two years of his term until the midterms wiped out his majority. It worked too.

The purpose of the shutdown is the same thing this time. I don't think it is going to work though. Russia Gate worked because the peeled off RHINO's from supporting Trump. The Republicans aren't dividing over the shutdown. This strategy can't be extended long enough to castrate Trump's first half term.

And the lard-ass projecting card carrying member of the Dickie Do Club...who hasn't seen his micropenis in years...still believes trump will have that big beautiful ACA replacement out in two weeks. 03-rotfl

Time to stop whining about the congress you've controlled for years and get something done.

The Dem's are in a tough spot. Yielding to reality will put them in the crosshairs (perhaps literally) of their radicals. Continuing the shut down when the Republicans are willing to keep business as usual is not resonating with independents.

Well the unions are coming out against the shutdown. And the unions are lead by hardcore Democrats.

This will be forgotten the second it's over, and the Democrats will be rewarded next year with the House and the Senate in their control.

Why did the last CR only require 54 Senate votes?
https://gcn.org/resource-hubs/article/de...h-14-2025/
"On Friday, March 14, 2025, the Senate advanced the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025 (H.R. 1968), a continuing resolution (CR) that funds the federal government until Sept. 30, 2025. The House advanced the bill 217-213, and the Senate 54-46. The President signed the bill on March 15th."

A goldfish takes better care of itself than the average American does. Whether it be Democrats or Republicans I've never seen anything like it. We are nation of dummies. Period. End of story.

IDK, so I looked it up. The Dems were filibustering, but they took a procedural vote where they got 10 Dems to vote to end the filibuster, and then the Senate was able to pass it with just a 50+ majority.
