The new coach and new squad made the trip to Michigan State and came back with a couple losses.

The first loss was to Merrimack, the second to Michigan State.

Coming up is a trip to Madison to face the Badgers and Green Bay.

Back into a rebuilding mode, but I suppose with the success that Tony had, it was to be expected that he would move on.

I didn’t expect it at all. He stayed at FAMU for around 20 years, then a very brief stay at a juco as an in between job.

I really thought he’d stay at Chicago State long term. The move shocked me.

The team does appear to be competing in their first few games.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was a total disaster based on everything known.

But based on this small glimpse, I’d say there’s some talent.

New volleyball coach and squad continue their woes. They lost to 9-4 Valpo today, after losing to Missouri yesterday. Thru did take a game from Valpo at least, so that’s progress.

Cougars lost the NEC opener to LIU and recent former coach Tony Trifonov.

It wasn’t a good loss either, 25-12, 25-15, and 25-15.

LIU is picked at the top of the NEC, so in that regard, it’s not a terrible loss on its own.

But it’s going to be a real challenge for the Cougars to things going this season, and unless they do it quickly, things could get even uglier.

I am watching the Stonehill. 21-17 Cougars in the first set, and so far we look fairly good.

Season came to close, finally. It was brutally bad in light of losing star coach Tony Trifonov and the entire team he built and lead to a conference championship and the NCAA’s.

New coach brought in a lot of transfers and grad students, and it looks like she will be starting with a nearly bare cupboard again next year-albeit with time to recruit, which her late hire date didn’t give her this season.

As for this season, there’s nowhere to go but up.
