Yeah...why wait for an economist when you can just take the word of the most dishonest president and administration in history. 07-coffee3

Not to mention, is there even a signed agreement that's binding? Or is it like nearly every other one where we just see a social media post and never any details...or that we find out shortly that the other party completely undercuts the trump propaganda?

Oh THIS douchebag again?

https://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/d...ets-230164

“All told, these movements suggest that financial markets expect a generally healthier domestic and international economy under a President Clinton than under a President Trump,” Wolfers and Zitzewitz write in their new paper.

https://fordschool.umich.edu/news/2016/marketvagaries

.... belief that a Trump presidency would be a drag on the economy. Yet after the opening bell the following morning, stocks began to rebound.

Pundits and economists were generally puzzled by this. The day after the election, many Ford School students, and Justin Wolfers himself, were visibly shaken.

It will also cause mass layoffs and shut down the transportation industry!

I understand the need to even the playing field for American companies, but it comes at the expense of the consumer who is paying a tax on all goods and services. The American products will coming in just below their foreign competitors, hence the costs will go up for the consumer. Simple as that.

So when we just got "the biggest tax cut ever", we really didn't. We shifted where the money is collected.

Quote:the dismal science proves every time to be precisely as unyielding or as pliable as necessary to support the policy agenda of the Democratic Party and, perhaps more importantly, the sensibilities of a Davos Cocktail Party.

Justin Wolfers, a professor at the University of Michigan, personifies this dismal approach to the dismal science.
....
The economists’ mistake is one prevalent in many fields today, from public health to education, where attempts to launder genuine expertise into social control tend inevitably to backfire, discredit the experts broadly, and thus fuel precisely the populism that they seek to avoid. Telling Americans to believe “economics” over their own lyin’ eyes only underscores how economics has failed.

He's not wrong. You're just too riddled with TDS to see it. 07-coffee3 (And no, I won't take any callbacks. Don't like it? Tough sh*t. I've got stuff to do today.)

WTF does that have to do with anything? A tax is a tax, whether you call it one or not. If Biden were raising tariffs across the board you know damn well that the Republicans would call it a tax because at the end of the day it comes from the consumer.

Not disagreeing in any way with that point, but a tax is still a tax. Long term I think making American companies more competitive in our market is good (and badly needed, this is way overdue). But at the end of the day it is still a tax. Don't tell me we're cutting taxes when we are just shifting where we collect them.

I agree 100%. I am just amused at the idiots that are pro higher corporate tax rates but against higher tariffs even though they both have the same net result on the consumer.

For the love of God, WE ALL GET IT HERE, you don't have to keep on saying it. Especially since you continually ignore the fact that these tariffs are WAY more punitive and wide-reaching on consumers then a few percentage points of increased costs of goods due to higher corporate tax rates.

Nah, I wasn't talking about people here, just other morons on social media. I don't think any new tariffs are punitive, just merely getting to where they should have been all along.

And you ignore the fact that one pushes corporations offshore where tax and regulations (another key component to consumer cost) are less versus the other which puts pressure on corporations to move back here.

You've got to be happy that when Weiner Hut holds you over for overtime during the busy pride festival you get to keep the entire $3.35 hr. for yourself tax free.

hmmmm…… We’ll see about that, LOL.

But I do believe when the history books, a century from now, try to explain the 1980-2030 era, it will boil down to Reagan and Trump, with a wasted generation in between. Obama will get a mention as FirstBlackBlahBlah, who by his hubris + incompetence, accidentally set the stage for Trump and MAGA’s long term success.

Yep.

Half Black was the best thing to happen to the conservative movement in near forty years.

Thx zerO!

And you’re still providing, bravo podcaster…

Which proves that a bad example is also a good example. Many people don't realize this but...a bad example is a good example of how not to do things.

Jeepers, sometimes I surprise myself with my sagaciousness. 03-wink
