Charleston v. Huntington
I just noticed that Marshall plays a lot of its "home" games in Charleston. Why is that? On what field are the games in Charleston played? What's the rationale for not playing in Huntington?

The Rice Owls are looking forward to the series.

I remember reading a press release earlier this season about that. Marshall does have a field in Huntington called University Heights Field, I do not know if it is on-campus or not, if not, it is nearby. They play their non-conference schedule there but play their home C-USA games at Appalachian Power Park, which is home to the West Virgina Power, Single-A affilate of the Milwaukee Brewers. It is because University Heights evidently does not meet minimum requirements for playing in C-USA. Marshall evidently does have plans to either bring their field up to standards or built a new facilty outright.

Marshall does have a field in Huntington, just not on campus. If you saw it you would understand why they play the games in Charleston. Marshall is having a tough time finding a location for the baseball field on or near campus. Plus, the funding is a little short.

Because Marshall does not have a baseball stadium that is worth a damn thats why..time and time again , promise after promise has been made to upgrade the baseball facility , or in the case of MU , build one that is decent enough for a school the size of MU..

Marshall baseball has played over the years in some of the most pathetic facilities known to college baseball..

Some day and primarily due to baseball in CUSA , The Herd will have a facility which will actually be in Huntington..vs the now 120 mile round trip the team has to make for a "home" game.

Its a very sore spot with many Marshall grads and fans alike
