One of those is an intangible quality: NYC and basketball go hand in hand. The Apple is a hoops city. Just like the Big East is a "basketball-centric" conference (the league's baseball and men's and women's soccer are very solid but ...)

There is a similar intangible with the SEC men's hoops tourney in Nashville. Obviously, Nashville is not a "basketball city" (ala New York). However, lots of SEC fans have a personal affinity for the city. Whether it's the country music, the beer, the hot chicken, the "Southern culture," etc. ... there is a "connection." Nashville is a city that is very well suited to host the SEC men's tourney (just like NYC is perfect to host the BE tourney).

Nashville is so much fun. Been there a few times to attend the nearby Bonnaroo and the city is such great vibes all around. It also feels like a thriving, growing city. Very modern with lots of construction. The river walk, broadway, centennial park, vandy, the live music, the food. all worth a visit.

My favorite unexpected find in that city was the full-scale Parthenon replica and the amazing statue of Athena inside. I'm a history geek and visited Athens a couple of time but to find this amazingly well done replica in Nashville was truly awesome

Definitely the right city to host the SEC's MBB tournament

I agree with the Nashville choice....I work in the music industry and have spent a lot of time in Nashville.....amazing how much the city has grown since my first visit in the early 2000's.....

SEC should stay in one place for their conference tournament like the Big East....really great way to make it a destination weekend for all of the fans...

Agree. We've held the SEC men's tourney since 2023 and will do so through 2030.

Nashville's current boom can be traced to the late 1990s when we had a visionary mayor (Phil Bredesen).

The Big East is smart to hold its tourney every year at Madison Square Garden. A historic venue that is synonymous with basketball. And a located in Midtown Manhattan, which is so vibrant and interesting.

I'd like to see the Bridestone Arena and the SEC men's tourney be like MSG and the BE tourney on a less historic level, of course (though the level of play in the SEC is now off the charts).

Love the BE tourney. Always have. Maybe DePaul will win it next year. 02-13-banana

RE: Big East Tournament
Creighton fan, just got back last night from NYC. The BET was off the chart as usual.
Congrats to the Johnnies. Didn't know what to expect from their fans, since we hadn't played in the tourney before, but they were great. A few more drunken bandwagon louts showed up for the finals, but our little group was never hassled. That hasn't always been the case in the past (no names, please).
