I was binging the new Squid Games on tv while waiting for the Tarleton game to finally pull up on my phone. Never saw Freddy when it did. He’s not gonna save the world, but he’s gonna help for sure.

UTA lost to Utah Tech. Looks like they are trying to play in St. George again in a couple of months.

Ouch, I'm actually quite surprised at this one. What happened? The main thing that sticks out to me in the stats are the 3 pointers for UT.

The Trailblazers shot lights out from three is about the main difference. UTA will steal one soon, as when they are hot, they are dangerous, but they have no plan B when they aren't.

IF we had all our main starters we would be up at or near the top of the League. Right now, we are 3rd at best. UVU and GCU look to be the top 2 so far from what I have seen and it is not even close. MPAKA and GRIMES are the real deal for sure, BUBU has improved but he needs to be better at ball control and more aggressive. The kid from Whicita Falls ( Holiday) has a lot of potential as well. We need Harrison Hicks Silvera and Sigiscar on the floor to be a real threat.

I really need somebody with more basketball knowledge than myself to explain Billy Clyde’s substitutions.

We just played most of the last couple of minutes with five guards and the tallest is listed at 6’’3.

Congrats Utah Tech on the victory.
I think these two Utah games were the worst games coached by Gillespie since he has been at Tarleton. He subs very little and when he does, I don’t think he brings in the correct personnel.
Of the three WAC teams we have played this year, in my opinion Utah Tech is the least talented team we have played. Non excuses for tonight. Very disappointing loss.

I thought ACU might actually pull out a road win last night against Seattle. We were ahead at the half and pulled away in the first part of the 2nd before letting the lead slip away. We went back and forth by one basket each the last minute and a half but missed our last chance. Most of our stats were actually up, but still didn't help. SU won 66-64.

I can suggest one less talented WAC team this year. The 0-3 UTA Mavericks, who lost 73-68 to SUU. This was the third consecutive loss to a team over which UTA was favored. Maybe it was the thin air in Cedar City. ACU and Tarleton will have to carry the honor of Texas in this year's WAC race.

Tarleton’s best basketball in the Gillespie era happened when he wasn’t even on the bench.
There are some really athletic guys on the team this year. But all these injuries are ridiculous. Season is half over. They won’t gel in time to make any noise, and then they will all leave. Completely different team next year. As a fan, I see no reason to invest my money and my time anymore.
The new arena will generate some excitement next season. That will last a few games. Maybe a whole season. But then we start all over with 15 new guys. I’ll keep watching on ESPN+, but my days of being invested are kinda over. And I made 2 Elite 8 trips, and a Vegas trip back in the days of D2. I loved Tarleton basketball. God Bless you diehards! I’m having grandkids now left and right. My priorities have changed, and it’s probably pretty good timing.

Oscar, I totally agree with your sentiments. We have no reason to get interested in these "one year wonder" teams. Of the 15 players we had last year, two returned, and I don't expect to see the same guys next year.

It has been harder to get interested in players anymore in general: basketball, football, softball, etc... I still root for my teams but the days of personal interest are really gone.

not to mention that we cant beat even the most obscure programs in much of anything. these are gimmies to the schools my friends and family support. UTA sports has just been kind of a bummer for quite some time now.

WAC is nothing but obscure programs. But SUU is actually pretty good. If the WAC survives, it likely will exist only in the western half, and especially in Utah.
