The Golden Hurricane? Seems bizarre to me. Tulsa is a long ways from the coast. Here is the history behind the name.

With a KenPom ranking of 263, a BartTorvik ranking of 246, and a Massey of 249, Tulsa appears to be at the bottom of the AAC ladder. They are 6-8 overall and 0-1 in conference. They lost their home game Wednesday to Rice (172), 70-64. Tulsa led by four at halftime, but never led again after the 10-minute mark of the second half.

Their best win to date is a 9-point win over Oral Roberts (305). Worst loss is to Georgia State (282) by 3. They lost a triple overtime thriller at Missouri State (200), 111-106.

KenPom has it UAB 84 - Tulsa 74.
BartTorvik has it UAB 86 - Tulsa 74.
Massey has it UAB 82 - Tulsa 73.

Over - Under on how big a lead we blow. I set it at 19 for this game.

This team can't get down by too may points or up by too many points - we lose in either scenario LOL.. Gotta hope we hold on to a 5-7ish point lead and win that way I guess. No lead is safe with this team. And if we are down, we will play hard the last 5-10 minutes of the game and keep it close, but ultimately lose.

Haven’t seen it mentioned or promoted much at all by the athletic department, but tomorrow is a double header.

Tulsa is really, really bad. Anything less than a 15+ point blowout will be a disappointment to me.
And it could be Eric Konkol's farewell tour. Fans want him gone. Might depend on if they can afford it.

Have to win this one, one way or the other, but I agree with you on 15+ blowout. On paper this is the worst team in the conference, and the game is at Bartow Arena. No excuses!

The KenPom and Massey lines have both moved one point in UAB’s favor: KenPom 85-74, and Massey 83-73. Barttorvik remains at 86-74.

There is nothing UAB can do about the opposing team’s free throw percentage, but teams are shooting the lights out. It didn’t help NT went 25-26 against us, but for the season the opposing teams are hitting 79.6% of their free throws. That ranks 362nd! Only Montana State and Missouri have worse (better?) percentages. At the other end of the spectrum, teams playing Wichita State are only making 58.2% of their free throws.
Wild! BTW, the D-1 average is 71.6%.

At my age, I refuse to make fun of anybody’s hair or haircuts.

Really thought Konkol was going to do better there. Shame to see he can’t put it together.

Got a soft spot for Tulsa having lived out there for about 9 months and going to some basketball games there.

Ive point that out numerous times lol…

And we’ve also lost 10-18 point leads with regularity as well.

Which is why when AK said in the ark state post game presser that he’d never been a part of a “tale of two halves” like that game, I just shook my head. It’s happened to him multiple times.
