I truly believe it’s just this core man. They’re mentally weak. But I admit, I’m an AK apologist. Though it’s a common theme with this core.

I’ll at least give AK this much, he sounded pretty pissed off on the post game radio show. He even went so far as to say we played soft. At least he is seeing what is so obvious. Fixing it will be the real trick.

Honestly, it can’t be fixed with this squad. I still think we go 10-8, 11-7 or something similar in conference. This group is just not sharp. They play a half and that’s enough.

It’s not going to be fixed. We are halfway through the season with 75-% of the same team from last year that had the same issues.

They are physically and mentally soft.

This has also been AK’s worst coaching job.

We got lucky last year and had a cake walk to win the AAC Tournament and everyone thought this group was actually something..

Agreed, I think it is the squad. They aren't physical and have no curb stomp in them at all

Yep sadly had really high hopes for this squad and we do the typical UAB thing

Maybe this team will be better next year.

North texas got a lot of FT on the second half, UAB will beat that team at home and on a neutral court

They got free throws because they were aggressively attacking the bucket in the second half. They went 25-26 from the line for the game. Give North Texas credit for adjusting their game plan at halftime. We couldn’t stop them in the second half.

They must have watched the Arkansas State game.

When things get tough this team unravels faster than a loose roll of toilet paper. They are softer than charmin.

i saw the second half only and it seem that uab was going to the basket and rarely get a fall call ,,those number didnt make an sense ,,,it will never happen away for home

Once you realize how soft our team is and just how bad they are at defense, it makes total sense. We couldn’t guard a nursing home resident driving to the lane.

Another example of why the lack of a true point guard hurts us every year. You need a floor general to take control of a game when momentum shifts. Calming the players down when things begin to unravel. Of course we never recruit one or Kennedy just assigns out of desperation during the year. As far as a lack of toughness, that wasn't Kennedy when he played. Hard to believe he would develop it later in life. This is year five boys, when are we going to expect more? I certainly wouldn't want current AD to be in charge of next hire but we have got to decide if we want a top 50 program. I do. I'm tired of this crap in both football and basketball. We are more irrelevant each day!

I’ve asked versions of this same question several times this season, but would people here give AK the pass they do if he didn’t play here under Bartow?

A lot of UAB folks consider him some sort of coaching savant.

He’s not.

He’s won, what, 2 games in the tournament in a 20+ year coaching career?

Outside of late season miracles his teams have routinely underperformed, never sniffed an at large, never come close to winning a conference regular reason, and have only won confeeence tourneys bc we’ve gotten favorable draws.

Agree… very one sided in the 2nd half… but should have found a way to overcome it

If you fire him you are telling the next coach that two tournament appearances and an NIT final aren’t enough. I get the frustrations with this team in particular, but we are much better off than we were in the years that preceded him. This is by far the worst season we have had since AK arrived, and it was either this one or Jelly’s senior year that I had the highest hopes for.

I do get the questions being asked, but what’s the alternative?

No sense in throwing out the baby with the bath water. SMH

It’s been said before but if I’m AK, I am scouring the world for a true point guard in the offseason. It’s been a glaring weakness all season.
