UTA defeated Texas State 80-72 on Sunday night. After trailing by seven at the end of the first half, the Mavericks scored 48 in the second half to get the win. This concludes out of conference games.

Good Job Mavs. It was fun beating Texas State earlier in the year, certainly better than playing two top 25 teams in the nation and getting our clock cleaned. Baylor was good but A&M was awesome.

We end our non-conference time New Years Eve with a game against Stephen F. Austin. Looking forward to a celebration before the New Years. At least that is what I wish for a delayed Christmas Present. I still wish they had stayed in the WAC due to the long rivalry.

And Thanks, wewererebels. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year right back to you.

Tarleton gets the win at home against Florida A&M 70-60 to close out our hellacious non-con schedule. Our top/veteran guys are still banged up with injuries, but slowly starting to pull a few of the young'uns into rotation. Flashes of greatness, with ALOT of boneheaded mistakes and turnovers pretty much sums up our squad right now. One of the most promising was Ronnie Harrison Jr., and he just fell off the face of the earth. Not even travelling with the team. So who knows, in the day of of the Portal, nobody is really in it for the long haul anyway. Players are definitely looking out for #1, as they should be I guess. Nonetheless, I'm confident that Tarleton Basketball Pride, if nothing else, will still manage to put a *decent* product on the court, but unless things turnaround quickly on the "injury" front, we're probably already looking at getting as many minutes as possible for our young guys and start building for next year. True Freshman Bristow should be in the running for WAC Freshman of the Year.

I hope we beat SFA.

I agree about SFA and the other almost WAC members that we have lost. The WAC came close to having a really great Texas contingent with SFA, SH, Lamar, UTRGV and UIW. We could've been the "new and improved" Southland Conference. But now, with those losses, the WAC is just a rump league that may not survive.
