There are people, however, who do: the monied boosters who live in a tax bracket most of us do not. What are they doing to right the sinking ship of UAB athletics? I have seen no evidence they are doing anything. I am extremely disappointed that they have not done more to facilitate the ouster of Mark Ingram and Trent Dilfer.
I am as disappointed in and as angry at the monied boosters as I am in Ingram or Watts.
Sorry to quote pumpkinhead, but you don't know what you don't know. I don't know deets, just that there have been discussions.

The drive UTSA put together to win it was wild. The sad thing is, I remember that being the most heartbroken I've ever been over a UAB Football game. And the way things are going, I may never get to feel that way again.
That decision changed the course of UAB history, IMO. We let an opportunity to host a conference championship slip through our fingers just two months after having 37,000+ at our home stadium opener (during COVID). The moment was way more important than just that one first down. We could've secured the bag and instead we looked momentum straight in the face and said..."No thanks".

Agree with demiveeman, it was the worst decision on clark coaching at UAB and it was the begining of the end of his carreer (dont forget miss clark melt down on FB ) and UAB AND BHM LOST a championship game
WE WILL Be fine , we will be losing 5 greats players like every team in college even the top 5 teams lose great players

Wait... would this mean that we don't have to hear ESPN announcers worship Trent Dilfer on the football broadcasts?
(12-18-2024 03:33 PM)58-56 Wrote: Yeah, Ted, there's a problem with your policy. You've admitted quite directly (see above) that this is not a policy, but a suggestion. Because you broke your policy to issue the credential in the first place. So what you've admitted, in public, is that credentials are issued on your whim.
Therefore, you revoked this credential because these podcasters (who I do not know, or follow) pissed you off. That's not my conclusion. That is what you have admitted, in public (pro tip: real communications professionals don't admit that in public).
Here's another pro tip: no one's going to care about your tweet, Ted, because you work for a shambolic organization which has no real accountability. But at a professionally managed organization, your tweet would be a career-ender.
And one more note. Ever hear of ESPN BET? Here you go, off their site: ESPN BET is a newly-branded online sportsbook operated by PENN Entertainment that combines ESPN's industry-leading brand and multiplatform reach with PENN Entertainment's proprietary in-house technology and deep sportsbook operational expertise.
Why did I quote that? Because your credentials policy also bars ESPN, ABC and Disney from holding UAB press credentials. Again, that's not my conclusion. It's right there in black-and-white in your policy. You know, the policy you claim to follow, except when you don't.
So, Ted. In four hours from the time of this post, ESPN+ will broadcast the UAB-Alabama A&M basketball game. Will they be allowed into Bartow Arena? Per your policy, they are barred.
RE: UAB revokes Blazer Victory Podcast's media credentials
Lets be real...this is nothing but an attempt to control the narrative. Media credentials are the carrot to talk nice even if it is fake. I'd rather lose credentials and speak truth than be controlled and bridled.
RE: UAB revokes Blazer Victory Podcast's media credentials
What makes it worse is in his statement, Ted says that John is not invited to participate in post-game pressers.
So when Dilfer asked John, "were you there?!" that is an even bigger slap in the face because he was not allowed to go to the post-game presser. He was giving Dilfer a layup to smooth over his "this ain't freakin' Alabama" comment. All Dilfer had to do was talk about how the press and local media didn't want to stay 10 minutes after the game for a quick press conference and then drive down I-20 for the Bama game, instead he was rude and condescending to John who was trying to throw him a life raft and is the only person truly covering UAB Athletics.
What a joke of an administration. Dilfer should have been fired after that week with those remakes and the Inferno Louisville comments.

I love John and the BVP guys, but again I say it... they are NOT the only source out there for Blazer coverage. Steve Irvine has been doing so in depth for many years at a number of media outlets. Check the Birmingham Banner. While you are at it, give them some clicks.

The guys at BVP apologized, took the t-shirts off the market, said it was meant to be fun but in hindsight crossed the line, and called it a lesson learned.

Whoever does the Ever Faithful, Ever Loyal site has been doing great work lately as well. The recent email updates--that include references to Steve's tweets and articles--have been the best thing going for UAB coverage.
