I am talking about getting him the ball near the start of every possession and having him run it from there. Give him some sort of cutter, some shooter getting in position for a three, and the possibility of beating a guy off the dribble. This should have been worked on all offseason. If the double teams come, he should have a quick and consistent out, much like a qb with a hot read. I’m not saying Yax is him, but he projects to be like a Scottie Barnes at the next level in my mind. We haven't taken advantage of his entire skill set this season, and I think a lot of people are responsible for that, including Yax himself.

I’m not really sure what the game plan was going into the season, but we got it all wrong.

Likewise I want the guards to pass it to Yax at the top of the key, where he has the options to pass, work the ball inside himself, or pass and cut toward the basketball. He should be getting a lot more touches.

It’s weird bc AK said numerous times he wanted Yax to be the highest usage rate player in the NCAA this year. Hasn’t been close. Yax still goes on a milk carton for large swaths of games. That’s a lot of people’s faults - but chiefly AK and Yax.

I blame Yax. I’m close enough to hear what AK is saying to them.

I think that it gets down to whether or not Yax really wants that role.

Yax is way too passive.

I don’t think he has the personality to be an alpha.

Some guys can be nice and soft spoke, and turn that dog on when the game starts. Yax can’t seem to. For more than maybe 10 minutes a game.

He is not wired that way. Same problem with one of my grands. It’s the difference in being good and great.
