I’m not happy with Ingram extending Norton and Dunn for that length

You’ve gotta have accomplishments to get rewarded with extensions and pay raises. For the love of god…

Watch for a Dilfer 1 or 2 year extension in the spring on top of what he’s got currently.

You seem to never be happy about much of anything anyway.

Those two programs don’t have much history of success though. Or any really. Norton usually has the team in the top half of the league. Sure I’d like to see an NCAA Tourney appearance, but we’ve got what, 2 appearances in our history?

And baseball? There might be even less history with that program. I say give Dunn as much time as he needs.

Feel free to print these and bring them to the rest of the basketball games. I also have a PDF available if needed.

UAB athletics are a national laughing stock and we suck in almost every sport. Interest in the Blazers is at an all time low plus enrollment is declining. What is there for UAB fans to be happy about?

Agree, we won’t find a better coach that Dunn. And we should spend as least as possible on women’s basketball.

This is the only school in the country where you can make 6-7 figures coaching sports and there be absolutely no expectations or no results to get hired or extended. They just got extended thru 2028, for what?

Instead of the, “extend me so I can recruit”, it should be “let’s see where we are a year or 2 before their contract is up, and see if we’ve made a good hire and investment”.

Job security don’t make a coach work any harder. You’re going to get what you’ve always got. It’s almost like not being able to fire a teacher who has tenure but quit loving what they were doing long ago.

These are supposed to be our 3rd and 4th top programs in our department.

I don’t know why I’m expected to be happy with mediocrity across the board.

It’s not crazy to think that our AD and prez are sabotaging our department, especially when the AD has no pressure for good programs and has just gave 2 extensions thru the end of his own contract.

“Oh, you want to fire me as athletics director, here’s 2 more contracts for you to buy out. Sit down fans and shut up”

Who do you think we could get better than Norton or Dunn? That’s the point. And the only coaches making 6 figures or higher are Dunn, Norton, AK, and Dilhole. Most of the other coaches make what people in this forum probably make.

Can we get someone better than Dilhole for football? Hell yeah, and that’s why there’s an uproar from the alums/fanbase.

RE: Mark Ingram should go
Go sit thru one of our women’s games and then go in January or February to one of the 4 regions and watch girls playoff hs basketball and you’ll see we can easily find a person that can coach up the least athletic and slowest players they can find to make the right pass, decision not to drive in to traffic and not miss every point blank layup.

I know the dumpster fire Dunn took over, I just think contracts need to play out more than half way with some success than to just throw on a random extension when they already probably had 2-3 years left.

Unless Dunn was on a 3-4 year contract. But I’m sure it’s a 5-6 year contract.

Decisions like this explain why we made foolish decisions to extend ehsan and probably point to expecting Dilfer getting an extension in the spring. When it’s going bad, Ingram doubles down.

I don’t disagree Ingram’s great at making terrible decisions, I just don’t think these two are part of that. Again, I just don’t see us getting better people in those two roles, so go ahead and extend them, and make them more expensive if they do have success and someone decides to hire them from us.
