It needs it. When I was there 2015 or so they had a sheet hanging from the rafters projecting stats. When I was there in I believe 22012/013 (Donnie was coaching) that place was loud and rocking in a OT win over Western.

Same thing 1989 or 1990 I was there and watched Weatherspoon and S. Miss lose a close game to very good Louisville team. S. Miss had a 6'4 or 6'5 guard that I cant remember his name that was a player. Weatherspoon and that kid made one of the best scoring combos in the NCAA

So 2 of the 3 trips as far as fan support (and noise) reminded me of Western when there were 13 to 14k in Diddle Arena and John Thompson brough his #2 G-town team (1982-83) to Diddle and was lucky to get a 4 point win. He quoted after that game "from start to finish, there was a wall of noise". Western wasnt very good that year but Coach Clem Haskin had a top 10(nationally) so mostly freshmen made up the starters.

A story told to me by the AD at this time Western was the top pick to get S. Miss spot in the Metro but Louisville blocked it. At that time Western had made the NCAA tourney 11 of the previous 20 years. Plus the F4 run and ranked 7 years of those 20. Plus Western held head to head win count over Louisville, Cincy, and Memphis
