I can guarantee you it won't be a 1 seat majority - because about 20% of Republican representatives are RINOs. They then work with the Dems to block any significant legislation that comes up.

Notice how with every single controversial vote over the past ~10 years the democrats almost always vote for it, while the Republicans are divided with the Freedom Caucus voting against it. There is never an even balance of Republican and Democrats voting against it.

Democrats in heavily Republican areas run as republicans so they can get elected, and tap into out-of-state funding to win primaries. Red state primaries are where the Republican party has it's biggest failure point - along with blindly re-electing incumbents.

A friend of mine is a professor at BYU, but is a life-long tree hugger and Democrat. It came up that he was registered as Republican and I asked him why. He said it was to fight against Trump in the primaries, but he still voted Democrat in the election. I think there are many such people out there in the patriotic portions of the country.

The Rs almost never vote 100% together, so they have to get some Ds to make up for the defectors. Just like now.

But strictly speaking just for the numbers, the Rs currently have 219, with 3 seats still TBD. The Rs could possibly win 1 or 2 more. But maybe not.

It's not their numbers. It's the AP's numbers. They just reprint them. They don't calculate any themselves.

Iowa is finished just not called GOP is leading so that's 220, hopefully 1 of the 2 CA seats is won by GOP.
