We shouldn’t have 25-29 year olds playing their 7th-9th year of college sports.

Shakespeare said it best in Henry VI Part 2, Act IV, Scene 2

We might as well just take this to its logical conclusion. Why even have a limited amount of eligibility? The other professional football league (the NFL) doesn't. Minor league baseball doesn't. Just play until you can't play anymore. As long as you're a student of the school, you're eligible. Not good enough to play on Sunday? But still good enough to play on Saturday? Just go to college for 15 years, a la Van Wilder. Hell, there' no limit to free agency. Play for a different team each year if you want.

I can hear the broadcast now: "The starting linebacker for Northwest Southeast State Tech is Alvin Mack, a 12th year redshirt junior from Eastbumfuck, Kentucky. He started his career at Eastern State University, and after a nearly career-ending leg injury, he went on to to play for 2 seasons at ITT Technical Institute, a year at the Merchant Marine Academy, followed by 2 years in the California Penal League, then he took a gap year, coming back to play one year each at Devry, Juliard, and Faber College. We interviewed him during warmups, and he's super excited because his first grandchild is making her first appearance at one of his games today, and he's dedicating his performance to her...."

It doesn’t really matter if they officially do or don’t, because we make up the rules as we go. There is no valid reason in the world that Zeno should have gotten another year, but here we are.

No argument there. So, a 2025 grad: 2 yrs juco + 4 years NCAA + redshirt + medical redshirt = as many as 8 years of college athletics. Does redshirt while in juco count? If not, that's 9 years...

Yeah, it’s getting absolutely insane. There needs to be a cap on either age, or years on a roster. If you had a tough medical history in college, that sucks, but that’s life. Guys should not be playing college ball into their mid and late 20’s.

Maybe we can go back and try out now...

The NCAA has now extended an extra year waiver to former JUCO athletes playing their final season of eligibility. This means Yax, CC and AJ would get another year!

Of course, we all expected Yax to enter the draft and be selected this year, but he needs to start being the aggressor as Andy said last night.

I expect Yax and Coleman will enter the draft and based on what feedback will make a decision. That said if they do come back, we need to up their NIL to retain them and keep AK.
