I know this is old, but I remember reading that some Longhorn fans think it was a fluke that we won the NC in 1966. They may be the kings of football but not in basketball, that is our crown.

And the TA&M Aggies fans can brag all the want about how they stole Billy Clyde Gillispie from us, but I still don't ever see Gillispie like Coach K, or Rick Pitino, or Dean Smith, etc. Let them share their moment of fame for awhile because it will quickly dust off.

Texas fans think anybody winning any championship besides them is a fluke! Now that we have Texas for football in '08 and '09 do u think we can get them for a home basketball game?!

I'd love to. If we can get Texas Tech to come I don't see why we couldn't get Rick Barnes and the Texas Longhorns to come here. I would even love to have Billy Clyde and his boys come here as well.

In a radio interview Billy Gillespie stated he would never bring his team to El Paso. The main reason we can get Tech to come here is because of the friendship between Haskins and Knight. I may be wrong on this one, but somebody from UT stated after getting thrashed here in the Sun Carnival Tourney by UTEP that UT will never return to El Paso for basketball, I know someone said it, it might have been Penders.
