Notre Dame and Under Armour announced Tuesday that they have agreed to the most valuable shoe and apparel contract in college sports history.

The private school did not reveal the value of the 10-year deal, which will begin when its contract with adidas expires at the end of June, but sources told ESPN.com that the value of the deal, in cash and merchandise combined, is worth about $90 million.

That would make the deal worth more than the $82 million adidas is paying in cash and product to Michigan over 10 years.

The 2014 Shamrock Series game has not yet been announced, but it could feature one of the Irish’s ACC opponents, according to a report by Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune.

“I think you will see that a lot in the future, where we take a game that you would think of as a ‘regular’ game and take that game somewhere as part of the Shamrock Series,” Notre Dame Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick told the Tribune. “I can certainly anticipate future ACC opponents being opponents in a Shamrock Series game.”

Swarbrick specifically mentioned North Carolina, Louisville, and Wake Forest as games that could be candidates for the Shamrock Series in 2014.

Notre Dame is still in the process of finalizing their 2014 football schedule. They recently trimmed their slate down to 13 games after moving their trip to Temple to the 2015 season.

One more game will have to be postponed or cancelled in order for the Irish to get down to the NCAA maximum of 12 regular-season games. The most likely candidates for movement are Northwestern, Purdue or Rice.
NBC Sports Group announced a 10-year contract extension to televise Notre Dame games, doubling the length of its previous agreement. NBC and Notre Dame said the extension would begin in 2016 and run through the 2025 season. Terms were not disclosed, though the current five-year contract is reportedly worth an average of $15 million annually.

Athletic director Jack Swarbrick huddled over and over with his staff and tried to play out how the Irish would fill out their 12-game schedule in the years and decades to come, a Notre Dame source said.

Football scheduling issues were Jack Swarbrick's push for the Irish to join the ACC . (AP) That, more than any other factor, led to Wednesday's announcement that Notre Dame would join the ACC in all sports except football, according to the source. The agreement stipulates Notre Dame plays five football games per year against ACC opponents, but not compete for the league title and play eight games, as a full member would. That provides the Irish with the firm scheduling base it coveted while maintaining the freedom to maintain a national schedule.

As for the ACC, the compromise allows its football programs access to a major brand that sells tickets and delivers TV ratings. It will also allow ACC commissioner John Swofford to seek additional compensation from the league's current long-term deal with ESPN, according to an ACC source. That deal has been criticized in league circles for not delivering enough revenue.

I see one interesting news in Google called "Notre Dame, Miami coaches see Sun Bowl game differently"

My comments is bull ****. Don't consider humble as weak. Irish will definitelly beat Miami in Dec 31th.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and Miami interim head coach Jeff Stoutland addressed the media this morning at the Hawthorn Inn - each coming from a different perspective.
"We are certainly humbled to be here," said Kelly, who is finishing his first season as Notre Dame head coach. "There was a time when we were in a position that a bowl game wasn't a certainty for us."
Notre Dame won its final three regular season games to finish 7-5 and become bowl eligible.
"Our situation is a little different," said Stoutland, who will remain with the Miami staff under new head coach Al Golden. "This is our last game - not only for our seniors, but for many of our staff."
Miami head coach Randy Shannon was fired after the Hurricanes lost their final two regular season games to finish 7-5. Only three current assistant coaches are expected to be retained on the new staff.
