They played last year as an affiliate in the MAC.

MAC soccer has 5 teams, counting Chicago STate. MAC doesn't need soccer, they're a football league. And according to wikipedia, they dropped men's soccer after last year.

Summit men's soccer is Denver, KC, Omaha, St Thomas (Minneapolis), Oral Roberts (Tulsa). So no trips to the Dakotas. Add Chicago State and the 4 MAC programs (Northern Illinois, Akron, Bowling Green and Western Michigan) and you have a 10 squad league.

I have no idea what's happening with the MAC soccer teams, everything in this post is stuff I just googled.

Here's a follow-up question. If Missouri State departs the MVC/MVFC for an FBS conference not named the SBC, will its men's soccer program need to find a new home?

Well, if the conference is CUSA, which is the only other FBS conference they'd be likely to join, then presumably yes, because CUSA no longer sponsors men's soccer. Maybe the MVC would let them keep their soccer in the conference, but that seems to be a rare practice when a school is departing.
