The state of Illinois has no money and they chose WIU to bear the worst of the cuts. The whole university has been gutted the last 5-ish years.

WIU has not been targeted for cuts.

The state funding for WIU has increased every year since 2018. It was $46.3 million in 2018, and it was 52.1 million in 2022.

Change in total funding from 2010 (the peak year of IL higher ed funding) to 2022:
-18% - NIU
-18% - ISU
-18% - Governors State
-18% - NeIU
-17% - EIU
-17% - SIU
-14% - U of I total
-13% - WIU
-9% - Chicago State

Funding per student, 2022-23
16,828 - Chicago State
8,249 - SIU
6,817 - WIU
6,725 - U of I total
6,185 - NeIU
5,611 - NIU
5,260 - Governors State
4,731 - EIU
3,365 - ISU
