It is certain truths that are no longer allowed to be discussed combined with the party line that has been substituted. There is a whole lot of lying by ommission going on. An example is the oft repeated mantra "mostly peaceful protestors".

Now, this is my final response to your false ignorance.

That's fine if it's your final response, but my ignorance isn't false and you shouldn't treat assumptions as fact. I do not belong to one side or the other. So when I see claims being made that interests me, I will research as much possible to see if I agree with that view or not. But I can't do that if I don't know the claim. Maybe PM it to me then if that is your concern? I leave the back and forth on things like this to those that want that kind of fight. I just want to learn. And maybe share my take on what I learned as I usually don't when it comes to these kinds of things. Trying to prove someone wrong on the Internet is one of the biggest wastes of energy. At best I would share why I agree or disagree. At worst I will be satisfied with the answers I've found and move on to the next thing.

I came to this board just to talk about the Tigers and then I eventually started talking about other college sports-related things elsewhere. I stay away from the political boards as much as possible. I've probably accidentally clicked them more than intentionally gone there. For me when it comes to politics in this case, if someone's politics keeps them from talking to me about the Tigers or sports then they are either too deep in their politics, an a-hole, or both.

Amen

Agree & if politics seem to become their rationale for every opinion expressed.

Unfortunately, politics permeates sports now. I begged local media members to stay out of divisive BLM and COVID politics and politics in general, but they refused. One reaps what one sows.

EDIT: An aside since I do not want to create a new post on the subject of crime.

Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart near my new home to buy top soil. The bags are collected at a drive-through which is completely unsupervised. Payment occurs inside and the clerk takes your word for the number of bags taken. They do not require showing a receipt to anyone.

It would be very easy to simply drive up and steal bags and then drive off, but my local Wal-Mart does not see the need for precautions.

People in my new city are not intrinsically morally better than people living at my old residents. Living with high crime is a policy choice.
