Looking at it objectively, you HAVE to acknowledge that the Nazis killing millions of people is right up there with wearing stickers on our helmets.

The statement from Silverfield and the university, wasn't that they supported the destruction of the nuclear family, marxism, socialism, defunding the police, violence against police, rioting, and the destruction of property.

It was simply that many of the players, their families and friends had experienced racist behaviour, nothing more, nothing less. I think most would agree to that in varying degrees and respect that.

The MEMPHIS on the uniform is all that is needed to state our collective position on that. That has been the case for over 50 years. The BLM stickers were not necessary. The administration should have taken that stance and educated its faculty, staff, students, and players that MEMPHIS, as an institution, has stood against racism for more than half a century.

Thousands of white students came to Memphis with the incoming black students when this was NOT the norm with surrounding universities. We already made that decision. The BLM stickers were, frankly, an insult to what we believed the university was then and is now. They were never needed. Instead we should have educated our players. That is the job of the university, not promoting outside political organizations.

It wasn't a full blown political organization when the players wanted it, and it wasn't promoting the disgusting agenda. At the time, the side of it that the players were embracing was legitimate; the actual cause still is.

As an old white guy, I can say with confidence, that the ones bothered about this, are old white guys with their heads buried in the sand.

Something was needed, and I'm laughing at the idea that you are some sort of a rational moral compass. All anyone has to do is read any of the other stuff you post on to realize how ridiculous that is.

How often do you get pulled over by the cops? I have black friends that have been pulled over for no reason between 20-40 times. Have you ever been asked to get out of your car, to put your hands on the side of the vehicle, and to have your vehicle searched because of a burned out taillight?

This doesn't even take into account, not getting a job while being at least equally qualified, or even mundane stuff like being eyed suspiciously when you walk into a store.

Times changed, and the message changed, and the stickers changed. You won't contribute to the stadium because you don't like it, you won't contribute to the program from something that happened 3 years ago, that had ZERO to do with anything you are talking about now.

Any reason is good enough for some of our "fans."

Yeah. I'm an old white guy. I was the first generation to integrate my local school system. Play on integrated sports teams. Integrated band. Integrated high school locker rooms. Stayed in the same dorms as the black students.

I LIVED ALL THIS. I DID MY PART. I am entitled to my opinion. I don't care what you think.
