Gary Waters used to say that Athletics are the “front porch” of a University. Many peoples impressions of a University are based on its athletics. More people attend events inside the MAC Center than any building on campus (all things combined) and this is what they see? Not a good impression (or experience) at all.

Everything else seems to get built on campus (and off campus with the esplanade and hotel) but we can’t get a major renovation on the MAC Center. I just don’t get it…
