I think the problem is clear.

You can't lead others without self-discipline and maturity.

The bottle throw showed a lack of both.

If he's going to win the big one he has to build self-discipline and maturity.

Until people hold him accountable for his actions it's not going to change.

A team takes on the character of its coach.

Ever think that the reason the team made the mistakes at key moments is because they have the same control issues as Penny?

Good Lord. Throwing the water bottle was the least offensive thing he could have done at that point.

Are you gonna rip Izzo for breaking a board in half on the sidelines this weekend too??

I agree. I wish he had not done it but mainly because I have read 4 or 5 articles now on the Penny bottle throw and while they mention the timeout miss it is mostly second hand... "Penny expressed his frustration after refs missed a timeout call".... show the freaking video, show everyone how multiple people were calling timeout long before the jump ball occurred. I dont hold it against him at all though. We did get screwed on that play.

Problem is it should have never come to the refs blowing a timeout call. We had possession with under 10 sec. That's even after we missed FTs & had several poor possessions late with that slowdown, run clock mentality. We blew it, plain & simple.

Totally agree. If FAU had hit an out of this world contested 3 to win, it would have been easier to live with - I would have felt like we at least did our best to defend it. On the other hand, letting the inbounding guard waltz uncontested to the basket for a layup while up only 1 point is just mind-blowingly poor defense and shows a lack of situational awareness. I can understand Penny’s throwing the water bottle after witnessing such poor defense, which we had prided ourselves on.

McCadden totally overplayed the guy, ran right by him, allowing him a clear path to the basket. And FAU's big guy did a nice job of boxing DW out. It worked really well, but still if McCadden would have kept the guy in front of him I think FAU has to take a diffent more difficult shot.
