RE: ***Game Thread*** UAB v FAU for the 'Ship
No one is arguing that we haven't always had a few cupcakes on the schedule but don't suggest the quality of opponents hasn't declined over time. Especially in conference play. Bartow also managed to win some big games in non-conference play too. I remember when we use to beat Auburn. Hell, you guys get excited now when we only lose to them by a dozen points in a scrimmage. Remember beating #2 BYU that year? I could go on and on. I also know that even Bartow began losing his magic after 1986. Mediocrity started creeping in long before he retired. But man, those first 7 or 8 years!
I know, i need to accept the current situation as it is. Accept that most likely we will go dancing every 6 or 7 years. Maybe advance once every 10 years. At my age i should appreciate the few opportunities i have left to see us win meaningful games. You guys seemed to have done that and are much happier fans. Now excuse me. I have to chase some punk off my lawn.
