There are so many factors other than hiring assistants that are involved in the attendance issue but this statement proves you are simply a Hammock hater, period. So go root for another program.
Your next statement "a team that went from first to worst" can also be factually reversed: We went from worst (0-6) to first" but you are too blind to acknowledge that.
In addition to the world of STF where extensions are not announced, which assistants were fired? No matter how bad you believe some of Hammock's hires have been they've managed to get other jobs.
Every coach puts together a staff based on people he either knows or else trusts when they recommend someone. I doubt that any of Hammock's hires came without a recommendation. It's not like posting on Indeed.com or ZipRecruiter.
You're entitled to your opinion and folks are also entitled to consider you a joke. Case closed. LOL

I was never “just a hammock hater” - and you can check my posts I have defended him quite often. I loved the hire.

The problem is seeing what he has done to the program.

And you are making my point for me, these hires are a direct result of his “connections” and they are terrible. Hell one guy lasted 3 days.

You sir are a joke. If you can’t be honest with what you are seeing that’s a you problem. This program is in awful shape. They are losing. Can’t hire coaches. Can’t keep coaches. Can’t seem to recruit or develop (you can pick which it is for all I care - are the players the issue or the coaches?)

There has to be something wrong. You don’t let Akron take your girl like that and have nothing wrong with your program. You don’t lose almost every scholarship back but Brown and not have at least *something* going on.

So you are the joke. You want to let this program keep burning and clap as it does? Fine. But don’t be butthurt when it is pointed out Hammock might be the problem here.

You have to be right because you said so. You are obviously an expert. Thank God for message boards so you can share your expertise.

No I am right because that’s what’s happening. He has very few useful connections. This is a D1 program and he can’t fill the staff by spring? Is it because he has too many candidates?

I’m not an NIU fan, but I do enjoy MAC football and admittedly follow and pull for Akron since Joe Moorhead’s arrival. I watched the Zips before Moorhead, but could hardly finish out a game due the talent deficiency versus every other FBS team. My point in saying that is I have “no dog in this fight” but I have to agree that NIU is heading in the wrong direction. Outside of a few players, the 2023 class is probably the worst in the MAC.

When I watched Akron vs NIU last year, I saw the Zips whip NIU along the lines of scrimmage. NIU had the slowest defense I’d seen all year. Maybe NIU was beat up by that point? If not, that’s a real concern and I don’t see many, if any, players in this year’s recruiting class making a big difference. Undercuffler was the backup for Akron, not nearly as physically gifted as Irons, and still managed over 300 yards passing. Akron also had the worst rushing team in the MAC and rolled up 200 yards on the ground. To add insult to injury, Akron’s cornerbacks were probably the worst in the MAC and held NIU to 172 yards passing.

Recruiting is usually a good indicator where a program is headed. Most pundits were surprised by the success of South Carolina, Illinois, UCONN, and New Mexico State last year. They shouldn’t have been if they’ve been paying attention. Same could be said about Akron this year.

Take it for what it’s worth from an outsider looking in and follows recruiting closely. Feel free to disagree. I’m here for the discussion.
