This admin tried, all be it pretty patheticaly, to draw NIU alumni from Chicago(land). Doesn't work. But drawing the alumni from other schools to Dekalb might work.

Our alumni showed up in droves for the last NU game, the Orange Bowl, our Soldier Field games, hoping the next AD can change the culture back to Dekalb-friendly as well.

That tells me the destination is a bigger issue than the travel. NIU alum need a nicer location than Dekalb if they wanna watch their old team I guess..idk. Embarrassed??? Im sure SIU alums just find the 2 hour trip to glorious dekalb way easier than the 6 hour trip to carbondale.

We don't need a "nicer location than Dekalb", we need a nicer location in Dekalb. Need some real stadium updates, the downtown hotel/apartment project, and an increase in students to take back some of the low income housing. Hopefully soon some of this occurs.

Absolutely, but I don't see the real stadium upgrades coming in the near future - if at all. There are no fundraising campaigns targeted at specific upgrades, and I do not foresee any on the horizon. I think the best we'll see is emergency repairs and perhaps mini improvements.
