I don't think Rice students have ever been known for outstanding social skills, and they certainly don't have that reputation in the Houston business community.

I have always thought that the environment around athletics was conducive to improving the social skills of students, and that was one of the primary advantages of athletics, particularly at Rice. I always thought that the athletes were the most normal Rice people I knew.
