RE: FWIW: Dan Patrick Thinks If ND Heads to B1G the SEC Will Go After 3 Major Programs

Not only would they get to collect the exit fees from the 4 departing schools, but they get to keep their media rights for another 14 years.
People don't see this very often... they get too hung up on a school being "left behind" and assume they are not open to negotiation.
The bottom line for all 14 (+1 ND) ACC schools is that they are currently underpaid relative to the market. So there's a potential arbitrage opportunity here and ALL ACC members can improve their financial position for the next 14 years. If 4-8 members leave for the B1G and SEC, the remaining members can be sooo far ahead just from exit fees alone, and if they can settle the Grant of Rights, it could be tens of millions of dollars annually for each remaining ACC school. In effect, the net conference payout for EACH ACC school could move from ~$35m to $50m-70m (likely higher for those that leave for the B1G/SEC).
Edit: I think any "leftover" ACC school should consider settling for ~$200m combined exit fee + Grant of Rights dissolution for a leaving member. If 6 schools left the ACC at a $200m settlement, it would equate to roughly $10.5m annually for the remaining 8 schools, which would be in addition to their ~$36m conference payout today. It wouldn't be parity with the big dogs, but it would put them in a great spot relative to the Pac-12 and Big XII, plus with the backing of ESPN and the ACC Network.
