We’ve already got players skipping them because they don’t see any value in them. Will fans stop seeing value in them as well?
I wonder if we might see the bowls be replaced with little 4-team NIT-Esque tournaments.
If we see a clean break between the P2 and everyone else or the P2/M3 and everyone else would we see a 8/12/16 team NCAA tournament emerge?
I personally would like to see the Rose, Sugar, Orange, and either the Fiesta or Cotton Bowls as permanent quarterfinal sites but then what would become of the Peach, Holiday, Citrus, Texas, Outback, Gator, etc?
I like bowls whose original names are still more memorable than their sponsors: Rose, Cotton, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, Citrus, Holiday, Gator, Peach. Any bowl named after a restaurant chain, whether a minor one such as Beef O'Brady's, or a larger paying one, such as Outback, can end as far as I'm concerned. Do we still have the Sun Bowl, the one played in El Paso that is, iirc, 2 years older than the Sugar, or has its name been superseded by some tech company or pet food name?
the fact that you don't know
says that "the Sun Bowl" doesn't matter anymore. it's just a game on TV in a remote city.
