Does it not prevent schools from building a fan base at this level though? Few familiar faces or names to cheer for? Or the "wait, wasnt he on Ball state last year, now hes on NIU? Am i remembering this right?" This is becoming a thing.

I've always cheered for the on the front of the jerseys, not back. Even without transfers college rosters would have constant turnover. If you're a school that's consistently losing players to lateral transfers, that school should be doing some self reflection on why are players wanting to leave.

Its far easier to sell a dream over reality. The grass isnt always greener on the other side.

And as far as superstars go I root for the name on the back if its a pro team. Aka I root for Rockets on any team at the next level. Its a shame i may see less of that for excess transfering before a guy makes a name for himself in a UT jersey. Im greatful Hunt, Diontae Johnsom, Kern, Adeyni etc. didnt bite at a bigger offer before they left for the NFL. Loyalty is imporant to me as a fan. Im not the ultimate judge though.

Pro is different. You might see a guy on the same team for 8-15 years. A college player only has 4 years of eligibility and might only be a key contributer 2-3 of those years. Consistently new faces are entering and exiting any program.
