RE: RUMOR: Howard will be CAA #14
My few cents.

1. The conference has gotten better overall. The footprint and academics make sense.

2. The athletics portion has not improved, so without more athletic investments its more mouths to feed off the same dinnerplate, as others have stated. Also true is that at larges happen from out of conference scheduling, not the weekly grind in conference (though bad loses will hurt you and there are more opportunities to falter with more teams). Since the mid to late 2000's the schools have not scheduled as well as they were when at larges were plausible. Not saying its easy, but all of can do better on the whole, instead of padding our records year in and year out.

3. I don't see any more HBCU's being added. The conference got what they wanted. The MEAC likely calls up some non-DI's to fill out their missing areas before they completely dissolve. The CAA, despite their many shortcomings, don't appear to be in a rush to add just to add and adding any more of the HBCU's would be just that.

4. I dont think football has to go divisions, and probably dont. Guessing they will have a travel partner/rival and rotate over the years to cover playing everyone. There are not enough games a year to NEED divisions.

5. Towson will be in the north and Howard in the south. They won't be rivals. Towson will get paired with Monmouth, I would venture to guess.

6. Agreed that Albany is likely the next team. Campbell or High Point may be decent guesses at to the final team, but it will be a southern team. Fairfield just moved their lax out of the CAA to a newly formed conference. They are out (or were told no). (My own opinion here: Albany may be the next add but they add nothing to the conference as a whole and actually don't help all the travel fixes this round has seemed to focus on)
