South - CofC, UNCW, Elon, NC A&T, W&M, Hampton, Towson or Howard

North - Towson or Howard, Delaware, Monmouth, Stony Brook, Hofstra, Drexel, Northeastern

If we stay at 14, I would have to believe Howard will be in the South and Towson in the North.

I have heard that the goal was 16 from the start, if that's true the CAA could add a football school and a non football school(in addition to Howard) to get to 16 for the football conference and full membership. If the conference wanted to keep Towson and Howard in the same northern division(both Baltimore/DC area schools), we'd need to add a a southern football school and a southern non football school. I could still see High Point and Campbell coming on board to make that happen if UNCG is off the table, although i'm not convinced UNCG is completely out.

Regardless, if Howard comes on board the CAA will have the top HBCU's in the country in the conference with a huge fan base. This should be attractive to ESPN and other networks, and a decent TV package isn't out of the question.

Howard will almost assuredly want to be in the South with fellow HBCUs

I agree having the top HBCUs on the east coast will help the CAA

The CAA could add one more HBCU so there are two in the North and two in the South. Delaware State and Norfolk St are both potentials and each has a larger athletic budget than NC A&T, Howard and Hampton. This would make sense since I doubt the CAA would want all the HBCU's in one division with none in the other division. Both Delaware St. and Norfolk St. have football, so only one could come on board creating the need to bring on a non football school to get to 16. Both schools have about the same enrollment around 5,000.

If the CAA were to add Del St, that would be an add to the north for sure and would also help with a rivalry in that division.

South - Hampton, W&M, NC A&T, Elon, UNCW, CofC, Towson, *non football school

North - NU, Drexel, Stony Brook, Hofstra, Monmouth, Delaware, Del St., Howard

Unless adding all these schools results in "JoeyD" getting the conference a real TV contract with real TV revenue it's all just an exercise in making thinner pie slices.
