Hmm.

1. Adding A&T and Howard as full members would put football at 15 and all other sports at 14. Can't see that ending expansion. Add a football school and non football school and we're at 16 for football and basketball.

2. A&T would obviously be in the south for all sports, but where would Howard land with Towson in the conference for all sports? Can't imagine Howard and Towson would be split, and if we don't add two more teams they would almost have to be split. If this happened, it sure looks like we'd go to 16 if possible.

Add A&T and Howard and here's where we are for all non football sports:

South - Hampton, W&M, A&T, Elon, UNCW, CofC, ?, ?(Campbell +UNCG or High Point)
North - Stony Brook, Hofstra, NU, Drexel, Monmouth, Delaware, Howard, Towson.

A 16 member conference would allow the North and South divisions to schedule all conference games in just that division except basketball. And basketball would only need to schedule two games out of division in the conference. That would be almost an ideal setup for travel and exposure purposes.

If it does go down like that I figure Howard would prefer the South with Hampton and A&T to maintain a stronger HBCU identity.
