IMO, one of the best games Sims has played at UNCW. Very selective on his three point shots and for the most part was smart with his drives and staying under control. He presents a real problem at the top of the key when a pick is set and the defense has to rotate to stop him on the drive. He's also gotten a lot better at finishing at the glass. I think he's better when he isn't driving from the corner and can go left or right on the drive. Because I would still like to see a PG get others involved and get some assists, that's still a sore spot. But we seem to be getting a + moving him from the 4.

An important stat I think none of us are really paying attention to is blocked shots. We had six today and will likely be first in the CAA after today. Considering the fact we don't have a legit shot blocker besides Kelly, who didn't play today, everyone is getting involved. We had five different guys block shots today. That has an affect on our opponents when they get on offense. There were several times today when Campbell players didn't take shots in the paint and instead passed.

Our defense is looking really good. We are doing a great job on the switch and our size at every position is making it so we aren't caught in a lot of mismatches. The athleticism we have on the court is helping negate the times we do have a size disadvantage. I was hoping to see more of Samb and although he isn't getting involved in the offense, he is doing a great job on defense. Really a great guy to bring off the bench

Better three point attempts off the drive and better percentages. High Point 5-10 for 50% and Campbell 6-16 for 37.5%. And the last two games we've shot 45.5% against HP overall and 41.2% against Campbell. Not stellar, but far better than before. We also shot 74% from the FT line and 83% in the second half with Phillips nailing the front end of a one and one and the second FT when it really mattered and Mike following up doing the same to really seal the win

Regardless of how we've done it and whether we like what we saw, we did what I was hoping for and beat Mt. Olive handily then beat some decent teams in High Point and Campbell. And we closed out some games with some clutch scores and defense. The guys have to be happy and confident going into conference play, and as a fan I certainly feel bettter about our chances after these three games.

In terms of the blocked shots, that’s a great thing and I agree on the defense. We get caught not moving our feet sometimes and that’s where those blow by fouls like we saw a lot of today stem from, but overall very aggressive and works in our favor.

I haven’t looked at our size matchups in conference, but with a bigger lineup too to bottom with Sims at the point may really be disrupting the opponents. I agree with others that have said we need to press with intent though. A lot of our press opportunities seemed to be more focused on just burning the opponents shot clock vs aggressive TO focused press we saw under Keatts.

I think our press is going to depend on the team. Campbell had a bunch of guys who can handle the ball and finish when they break the press. They are also mostly a half court team that likes to get into motion and run the shot clock. Knocking off about 7 seconds with the token press seemed to make them rush their offense and take bad shots. They really didn't seem in rhythm most of the game except a few runs. Knowing how well we did shutting them down last year, I was content with whatever defense Siddle was going to throw at them and we held them to almost the exact same score as last year. Can't complain when we held them to their fewest points this season with the exception of Duke. We also held them to 38% FG when they've been averaging 46.5%. Again, Duke was the only team that held them lower at 36%.

It’s not just today, we need to press. The few times we have this year, it’s caused problems and led to good things. I didn’t see the token press today causing much of a problem. Once they got it in, they pretty much moved it up the court without much resistance. We were sold a bughati so far it’s a 67 pinto. I feel like we have the right personnel to press and press well, let’s see it!

All I care about are the results. We won and did a great job on them defensively. I'm pretty sure we are going to press some teams hard and others more of a token press. We won with what we did so I have no complaints.

What’s our identity? We pressed no matter who the opponent under KK and that stubbornness hurt us a few times but it won us a lot of games. Obviously glad to see us get a few W . Today especially, let’s see how that translates in conference
