Looking at this team it seems like we lack a Gary Clark or Tre Scott type, the guy who says I will not let us get beat on the boards and goes and gets every ball. Ody could be that guy, but he isn't yet (and doesn't know how to box out). Hensley could be that guy with more minutes, he made a nice impact on the boards (2 rebounds, one offensive) in the 4 or so minutes he played. Lakhin also is generally a good rebounder.

Ado and Koval are not going to be that guy and thus far neither has been particularly impressive on the boards. Davenport loses more rebounding battles than he wins.

We've seen how we perform against quality competition and now Wes Miller gets to make some adjustments and changes as we get some easy games.

I'd like to see less of Newman, I know he is a solid defender and really hustles. But on offense he is a guy teams can basically ignore. Maybe he makes an open three now and then, but he also takes and misses a fair number of bad shots (especially mid range jumpers). We have three non-threats on offense (Newman/Ody/Ado) it's hard to run offense when two of them are in the game at the same time. Give Mason, Hensley or Davenport more time at the three.

Another change worth trying is Lakhin at the 5 and leaving Ado/Koval on the bench. Ado is a lot like Newman, solid (when playing well) but isn't really a net positive or negative. Koval moves well and defends smaller guys well, but doesn't rebound well and isn't much of a threat on offense (the only way he scores if off threes, no interior offense). That would open time for Ody/Hensley at the 4 and hopefully they could help with our rebounding problems.

The team we watched last night is a good team and a team that isn't going to go away. But we are going to struggle against the top of the AAC if we can't keep them off the glass.
