If he ends up with playing time in more than 4 games that would likely be because Waylee, Rat, Ducker, Brown, Collins and Chapman were all hurt. Possibly even more than just them as Bolden and Lawson were both pretty highly thought of coming out of hs.

Interesting. I guess I didn't realize he was a walk-on.

I'm partial to him as he came from my high school.

Yep, he was put on scholarship in near record time, so coaches obviously think highly of him, but it really is a loaded backfield in terms of young guys that they like. Once Rat and Collins are gone, Blakemore will be the best "hammer" they have in the backfield.

OK. After I posted, I re-read your comment and was thinking it meant he got a scholarship. I didn't see it on social media (not a surprise as I'm in no way an avid social media-er) and missed it here if it was posted.

But that makes me happy. I never saw him play in high school but know he is a bruiser with some decent speed. How that translates to D-I is always a mystery coming from a 5A school in southern Illinois who doesn't face the highest of competition, although very competitive.

Yeah I saw highlights of his 8 TD game or whatever it was last year... Looked like an absolute animal. But like you said, it's hard to know what the level of competition really was. I know this though, if Hammock wants you, as a RB, then you can play. Whatever anyone thinks about him, there is no denying that he knows RB's...

That's a good point, regarding Hammock and RBs.

Interestringly. There was a kid at Centralia a few before Blakemore who was ridiculously good. Javon Williams, Jr. who, imo, was much better than Blakemore and he went to SIU and has done really well. I could never figure out how he didn't go FBS.

Either way, Centralia isn't exactly a hotbed of football talent but they've produced 2 really good RBs the past few years after producing literally no one for like 20 years.

I think the last guy to come from Centralia who did anything in college was Rick Garrett who played WR at ISU.
