ND is 25-1 versus ACC teams in regular season games since 2017.

P.S. Beating ND will not change its mind about independence, anyway.

It never did in the past. It won't in the future.

It is about what is best for the program, its brand and the school, not feeling "special".

Why would anyone want a school to "cave" and be forcibly raped into a conference against its will, anyway ?
Kentucky Basketball and Alabama Football feel the same way. The difference, They enjoy beating up on Their conference mates almost every year

ND football is not Kentucky basketball or Alabama football.

Those institutions freely choose to play in a conference.

ND football has freely chosen another model.

It has worked out okay for them.

I seriously dated three Catholic girls back in the day. (Not at the same time mind you - only Baptist girls forgive that). Only one was a football fan. Nominally she was a big Penn State fan but was also a secret ND fan. When asked why, she said "because I'm Catholic". The other two who would not have understood the difference between a football and golf ball both claimed to be ND fans despite not knowing who the hell Dan Devine was, yet when asked in public, both would proclaim they were ND fans.

My point is that it was in their DNA along with their Irish, Italian, Spanish, and French DNA. I just don't see the ACC gaining something by taking away something is unique to ND, nor do I see a compelling reason.

The only "compelling" reason is that the ACC is desperate for ND (or anyone) to ride in to "save" the ACC from its own self inflicted (mortal?) wounds.

The unending problem about that is that it makes much more sense and provides much more benefit to the ACC than to ND for the latter to do so.

I think the better move for the ACC would be to try to add Cincy and WVU than trying or hoping to "force" ND football to join (the playoffs will expand, ending that hope).

Cincinnati would be an excellent choice.
The ACC won't force Notre Dame to do anything. Full membership would bring additional value, but at a cost. We get good value from our current relationship.
If the SEC can change the NCAA rules to go to pods or no divisions, then 15 would work just fine until some other conference changes the playoff rules.
