I disagree - Coastal would step to CUSA in a heartbeat and so would others. That is the problem with this game being played. Big12 poaches the AAC, AAC poaches CUSA, and then CUSA poaches SBC. There are clear economic reasons why this happens, but a true leader with vision could change everything. But I’m not holding out hope. Mark my words - the AAC will poach their teams and then CUSA will poach the SBC.

So that we can play on Facebook Live, BeIn, and whatever else it is? How much money in branding do your programs lose by not being on National TV? The payout may be $200,000 less per school, but the opportunity cost of MISSING that national television coverage I'd assume is higher over the long-term.

If schools want to look at the numbers as black and white, which I doubt they do, sure, C-USA seems reasonable. Otherwise, I'm not sure what the point would be.

As for App, I'd hope they don't join a watered down C-USA while traveling to Texas two or three times a year for less exposure and comparatively less money.

I'm not advocating for CUSA over SBC or vice versa. Honestly not sure what I would choose if it were up to me. But one thing you are leaving out, especially for a school like App who has a fan base....ticket sales.

Pretty much all of our games are on Saturdays and we pick our times for the most part. This is awesome as a fan base imo. We play night games early in the season and day games later in the season.

CBSSN isn't so bad to be honest especially considering its on Saturday.

All of Georgia Southern’s home games are on Saturdays this season and we get to pick the start time. We will be on linear tv 3 times this season, all away, but even on seasons where we host a weeknight tv game, it’s usually only once a season and we still get a pretty nice fan turn out since it’s usually against one of the other bigger brands in the conference. Y’all are acting like we only play games on weeknights and that’s just not true. For the most part, we have the same scheduling freedoms as CUSA just on a platform that people actually use.

I never said that you only play on weeknights. I know there are measures in place to protect teams from ending playing every Tues/Weds like MACtion but Marshall fans are timid about weeknight games based on our experience in the MAC.

Because we were by far the biggest brand, we were forced to play multiple games in the middle of the week, while the crappy teams got to play on the weekends....but we had to share TV revenue evenly. All of our best games at the time ended up on a Tues/Weds night as opposed to a weekend. This really hurt attendance.

My biggest fear would be that Marshall was stuck playing App, Ga So, and Coastal on a Tues/Weds night. Yes it's good for TV, but sucks for the fan base.

I think what the SBC has done is the happy medium to be honest. No team will be playing more than 1 midweek home game per year. That adds some protections for teams, gets you exposure, and protects the fan base. That is something I would personally be excited about.
