What if Miami actually redevelops? What if Narduzzi can sustain Pitt at high level? UNC will still be getting recruits you need even if they are 3-9. Even NC State will get on average 1 recruit you want from SW NC/Northern Ga.

You would be better off in the long run meeting Georgia every 3-4 years and agreeing to play them in bowl settings.

-- BEAT cupcakes. You HAVE to win those. No more Northern Illinois outcomes.
-- Then you have to start winning against the part of the ACC that is not Clemson.

The conference is very mediocre, so this is not as big an ask as it may seem. Miami and Virginia Tech haven't yet recaptured their previous glory. Gotta get 'em while you can.

Build momentum, and you can then start toughening up the non-conference schedule.

I hate to say this but look at Kentucky. They play garbage in the non-conference, plus Louisville (who sadly hasn't given them anything to worry about since Lamar left). A string of mediocre seasons against cupcakes, and taking advantage of the SEC East when Florida and Tennessee have been down, have allowed them to build themselves into a pretty decent team.

Georgia Tech can follow this blue print ... they have far more football tradition than UK.
