I'm ready for a change. I'm sick of every other off-season having to determine if he's leaving for somewhere else because he won't squash any rumor. He uses every good season for a raise. He over sells and under delivers on the field. Always has some mind numbing losses and has trouble closing games, especially big ones. Granted, Ohio State is on another level than just about everyone but you can't lose to them every time and you can't follow that up with a loss. So many back to back losses reinforces my mentally weak mindset. COVID was a difficult year for him personally and it reflected in the team performance.

I wanted Franklin when the job opened after Bill O'Brien left. I was afraid he was inheriting a huge rebuild that he wouldn't be given enough time to complete but he performed ahead of schedule. He took the program to a high standard but couldn't get over the hump. I'm thankful for what he's done but he's plateaued. We know what he is and he isn't CFP championship quality. I'd rather take a risk on someone else than pay up to keep him. I don't know who that is yet. People crap on Nebraska but I give them credit because they have championship expectations and don't settle for someone like Bo Pelini and his annual 9 wins. I don't want to be complacent and settle for less than championship contender.

He has an agent that is swinging for more money at the right times, but the return on investment for Penn State is not very good. The guy is making ~$1,000,000 more than Ryan Day, yet, He's not delivering!
I'm not saying he's a bad coach, he's a good coach. I just really hate his comments, he's so damn subtle when these situations arise. If I were PSU, I wouldn't give him a raise and actually make him look committed for a change and if he tries to rebut the contract , they move on without him.

I would be going after a former Buckeye for my next head coach and my list would be:

1. Brian Hartline: There is a real nice 2022 class coming in and Brian is the man to keep it together.

2. Marcus Freeman: Like Brian, a big time recruiter and knows the region very well.

3. Luke Fickell: it's obvious, but also good at turning ☆☆☆ players into ☆☆☆☆/☆☆☆☆☆ players. Add that to the ☆☆☆☆ group coming in, now you're talking!
