Winning gold with a bunch of average at best minor leaguers was always a tall task. Only using players not on a 40 man roster we were never going to have a great team or recognizable team. I thought they played extremely well and showed just how much talent is in the USA. Absolutely no shame in silver from them.

They have won the gold medal before with the same type of roster. And this roster had a few top prospects, so it's not average minor leaguers.

MLB isn't going to shut down the season for 3 weeks to have players leave for the Olympics, which is why the IOC keeps jerking around baseball. But it's stupid to leave it out because it's a summer sport, regardless of what players play.

The easy fix is keeping the olympics away from professional athletes and go back to 100% amatuer.

That's not going to happen again, so you might as well not bring it up.

The IOC isn't returning to amateurism.

The US Team got shut out by a good pitcher in a winner-take-all game. If they won I'm sure you wouldn't question their roster so much.

They were good enough to win the gold.
