If only because of exit fees and other costs (such as NCAA Tournament credits), the Big 12 would still be in a much stronger position to poach who it wants from the G5 leagues even if it lost Kansas on top of Texas and Oklahoma.

I tend to agree with you. On the other hand what if the teams in the AAC stand pat. They have a good thing going.
