Can't see BYU setting aside their ego and joining a conference that would be viewed as inferior to the one Utah is in.

Nah, it’s a good cultural fit for them. PAC 12 wouldn’t be that far ahead in athletics. Easiest path to playoffs as well. 7 spots as opposed to 6 with an outside shot at a bye if it’s between them and the PAC champ.
