RE: 2021 USA Olympic Trials - Track and Field
Today, Saturday, June 19, the Decathlon (Scott Filip) begins.

Here are the Day 1 events, with Scott's personal best in each (remember, it is rare to get other than an occasional personal best within a Decathlon competition). I post this just to give a general idea as to how he is doing.

Event 1: 100 Meters 10.61 seconds (949 points)

Event 2: Long Jump 7.66 meters (25' 1¾") (975 points)

Event 3: Shot Put 14.88 meters (48' 10") (782 points)

Event 4: High Jump 2.08 meters (6' 10") (878 points)

Event 5: 400 Meters 47.58 seconds (930 points)

Scott does need to have a really good Day 1, because his weakest two events (discus throw, 1500 meters) are on Day 2.

There are two FINALS today:

Women's Discus Throw

The prelims took place yesterday, and the usual suspects did very well. Here are the participants, with yesterday's marks. I rank them according to their world ranking for 2021.

2. Valerie Allman 70.01 (229' 8") SB MR *
11. Rachel Dincoff 61.63 (202' 2") *
22. Kelsey Card 57.82 (189' 8")
36. Gia Lewis-Smallwood 60.94 (199' 11") SB
37. Gabi Jacobs 59.55 (195' 4")
38. Micaela Hazelwood 59.72 (195' 11")
43. Whitney Ashley 58.05 (190' 5") *
46. Seasons Usual 56.12 (184' 1")
57. Alex Collatz Sellens 57.69 (189' 3")
59. Desirae Buerge 56.02 (183' 9")
61. Alyssa Wilson 58.80 (192' 11") SB
98. Veronica Fraley 56.73 (186' 1") PB

* Met Olympic standard (63.50 meters 208' 4") The USA contingent will be Allman, Dincoff and Ashley, unless Card finishes among the top 3 or someone else gets 63.50 (Card is on the list to possibly make it if there are not 32 women in the world who have hit the standard).

Women's 100 Meters

Semifinals and Finals are both this evening.

Here are the top sprinters for 2021, with the world ranking. I have subjectively put in bold the ones I think are likely top 6 to make up the relay squad (just a guess):

2. Sha'Karri Richardson 10.72
5. Twanisha Terry 10.89
7. Aleia Hobbs 10.91
8. Cambria Sturgis 10.92
10. Tianna Bartoletta 10.96
10. Javianne Oliver 10.96

15. Kayla White 10.99
16. Gabrielle Thomas 11.00
17. Mikiah Brisco 11.02
17. Teahna Daniels 11.02
29. Morolake Akinosun 11.08
31. Dezerea Bryant 11.09

NOTE: All have the Olympic standard
